Moved In and Shipped Out

Welcome back to the Narrow Way. I hope that God’s grace has shined on you since last we spoke.

Finally moved in! After 59 days of traveling from place to place we are finally resting in our own home here in Chico at the Youth With A Mission (YWAM). Since we moved in on March 4 so much has happened. We were blessed by the base leadership to have the whole first week we arrived to move in and unpack into the house. I was relieved because the whole family was really exhausted from the traveling.

It was good to have the week of rest because the very next week we flew out to Kentucky. In Kentucky we visited my mom, brother, and his family before they left for Africa. Four days with my family and then off to South Carolina where my friend Waymen waited for us.

Wayman, the pastor at Sans Souci Community Church in Greenville, South Carolina opened his home for us to stay while Wayman and I ministered in Greenville. Saturday morning I spoke at a men’s rehabilitation center. There were about 80 men present. I taught on Isaiah 55; a powerful piece of scripture where God tells us that he is waiting to exchange our ruin lives for transformed glorious testimonies that will speak to the world his glory. Eight men made commitments to the Lord, and were saved.

Later that morning Wayman took me to a house he called the Freedom House. The freedom house is a men’s home for discipleship. The focus of the freedom house is discipleship through living in a small community. I spent time that day, and later at dinner with these men and experienced the fellowship theses men have with each other. It was inspiring. During the fellowship I discovered that the church’s vision is to have 40 of these houses for both men, and woman.

We ended the trip by preaching at Sans Souci Community Church, the fellowship that Wayman pastors. During the lesson I related the story of the twelve apostles in a boat while a stormed raged against the boat. During the storm, the disciples see a figure walking on the water toward them, all the disciples are terrified believing that they are seeing a ghost. Peter, realizing that it is Jesus calls out to him. “Jesus! If that is you, tell me to come to you.” Jesus calls Peter out of the boat and onto the water. I asked everyone one question: What things might the Lord be calling you out of the boat for? How about it? Has Jesus asked you to step and do something new?
